What I don't understand, your desktop or whatever background will have a color anyway. Shouldn't that be black?
Maybe I've missed it in this discussion.

I guess Keith is targeting to use the AM HGS display instrument over the X-Plane scenery

Ralph,

For cockpit building, We want to project the heads up onto a glass that can be looked through. Called a "combiner. So we only want the green texture and no other background.

It might be possible to reflect the texture with a black BG, but the BG must not pass through the Combiner onto the main screen.

As you can see here the BG is black and one cannot see through. So if I project this onto a combiner I will get either black on the glass or the black BG will go through the glass onto the main display.
In any case the angle of the video projector to the combiner needs to be off set so that the green texture does not go through the glass onto the mail display.

Ah, I thought you were going to build a 'real' heads up display.
Isn't it easier to make this instrument in Air Manager? Doesn't look very difficult.

Yes Ralph, That is the Idea.

I am going to buy a small video projector next week after payday. :D and do some testing.
This one is about 45 euros

Hi,

Thank you for that product comparison Gilles @SimPassion . Very interesting.

@Ralph , Now I want to add a stepper to raise and lower the combiner screen. I looked for examples in the hardware for stepper and hall sensor examples and there are none.

If we can get examples using a micro switch, hall sensor and a AS3500 . Please. Thank you.
