Twin Otter AP - to live on?

#1 Post by MarkH »

So ten years on, I finally dismantled my Twin Otter cockpit and disposed of all the panels :( I reclaimed all the components and will offer them on eBay in due course.

Actually, I didn't trash all the panels, I didn't want to throw away the autopilot. I thought I could give it away to someone who might want to get it up and running. It would be pretty cool to see it working in someone else's cockpit.

Although the AP is a copy of the Collins AP-106 unit in the Twin Otter Extended, it can easily be made to work with the standard KAP-140 in FS2020, with the two extra buttons on the left repurposed for UP/DN. The AP includes an Arduino Mega to interface the LEDs to Air Manager and the code is trivial. You would need to source another Arduino to connect the switches with AM, although I used a Leo Bodnar BBI-32 board (not included). It would benefit from being mounted in/on some kind of enclosure.

If anyone in the UK would genuinely want to try getting this going, please let me know. I will send it free of charge. (I don't want to ship it internationally but I will make an exception if your name is Ralph or Corjan or Russ 8-) )
